Search the City’s first record “A Fire So Bright The Heavens Can See It” was one that I spent a lot of time listening to. I was enamoured by the songs by this band and the illustration in the album artwork. I studied it to the point of adapting what I saw in my free time through high school and carried the results of that into post secondary. I thought if I could break down what I loved about it - identify what was moving my interest, I could make it my own in somehow. That grade of sharpened attention in hand worked for me and it helped me find an illustration style I was happy working in. I didn’t know who designed the artwork through the initial process (Invisible Creature) but that discovery came another way that meant a lot more down the line.
